Mr. Larkin is a native New Yorker who is the Chief Executive Officer of Licensed Career Institute. He still instructs some classes in order to stay in touch with the changes in the curriculum and the challenges that they might entail. Also, he loves to help students to pass the New York State exam and enter the insurance field he is proud to be associated with.
Mr. Larkin has himself been in the insurance industry for almost 10 years. He is still an active agent and was a Managing General Agent (officer) at an insurer before coming to the realization that helping others become agents or brokers was his true passion. Before entering the insurance industry, he worked on Wall Street for 28 years in the Foreign Exchange (currency) market. He managed numerous trading desks but was always heavily involved in the training of the traders in order to assist them to excel at their work.
Mr. Larkin’s goal is to make Licensed Career Institute the premier instructional facility in New York City for individuals looking to enter the challenging and rewarding field of insurance. Even though Licensed Career Institute is relatively new, Mr. Larkin believes that the skills he has honed in teaching and communication while on Wall Street and while teaching at other insurance licensing schools in New York has prepared him for this challenge. He is looking forward to welcoming you as a student at LCI and with assisting you in becoming a licensed, professional insurance agent/broker.
Mr. Byrnes is also a native New Yorker and was hired as an Instructor by the Licensed Career Institute in 2016. Prior to joining the Licensed Career Institute he successfully ran an International Export Management Company and then joined a global life insurance company (active there for 10 years). He came to LCI as he was impressed by the passion, vision and Mission Statement of the Institute’s founder, CEO, James J. Larkin. Mr. Byrnes has a wealth of insurance experience from his 30 year career in International Trade – be it credit insurance, pre-shipment insurance, marine and cargo insurance, transit insurance and warehouse/storage/inventory insurance. He is also fluent in matters pertaining to personnel forms of insurance – be it health and hospitalization insurance, disability insurance as well as worker’s compensation. Managing his firm for 30 years, he trained staff and overseas personnel in all departments – always finding the tool needed to make the instructions stick.
Mr. Byrnes’ goal is to assist in making the Licensed Career Institute the premier instructional facility in New York City and surrounding counties for individuals looking to enter the challenging and rewarding field of insurance. Mr. Byrnes is thrilled to have joined this Institute finding that it matched his own personal goals of helping individuals who are just entering the jobs market as well as those seeking to reinvent themselves as their old industries have faded away into a new and exciting career as an insurance professional. Mr. Byrnes’ business background and specialized training/degrees confirm that he possesses the skills to motivate and teach an intense New York State pre licensing class and prepare students to pass the New York State Life, Accident & Health examination, ultimately to become a professional in the Insurance Industry.
